Uiginish Lodge is a fantastic location for a family holiday, a celebration or a get together with friends. Children are welcome, and with supervision will be able to spend time out of doors, exploring the rock polls and spotting wildlife. There is one drop side cot and one high-chair available.
It is a perfect location for exploring on foot, and the house is frequently hired by walkers. Uiginish Point and the surroundings are immediate – just step outside the door! The Tables of MacLeod are a few minutes’ drive, and a great walk. Further afield are the Cuillins and the Quirang, world famous among walkers and climbers, photographers and geologists: both are about half an hour away by car.
Without actually venturing up the mighty Cuillins, it is a great day out to explore Glenbrittle, next to the mountains, or Glen Sligachan, with a good path on the other side of the Cuillins.
Neist Point has spectacular cliffs, a lighthouse, views of the Outer Hebrides and the possibility of seeing whales, and an array of sea birds such as gannets, fulmars and kittiwakes.
Other walks include the Coral Beaches, through Dunvegan village and continue past the Castle. The Old Man of Storr, Macleod’s Maidens, Kilt Rock and so many more wonderful walks for all levels of enthusiasm and ability!
Much more is possible than walking though – take a rib boat trip from Elgol or Carbost to the Small Isles (Eigg, Canna and Rum) or from Portree, or a ferry to Raasay. Trips to St Kilda are also possible.
There are also many companies offering wildlife tours and walks.
